COMMANDMENT 21 — I Have Healthy Boundaries
Jul 22nd, 2010 by boldbeauty
If you’ve ever been in the middle of doing something and suddenly felt uncomfortable about it, that could mean you’ve crossed one of your boundaries. We all have boundaries – things we would never say or do, either because we think they are morally wrong, or because they feel wrong for us. Knowing and understanding your boundaries is essential to a Boldly Beautiful lifestyle – boundaries help you live your truth and go through life as a person you respect, with your head held high.
But the key word here is “healthy” boundaries. Since boundaries are lines you won’t cross, they prevent you from doing things. And sometimes, they can block you from experiences that could be beneficial to you and help you grow. There are boundaries based in a strong understanding of right and wrong, of good and bad, but there are others based in fear. And fear has no place in a Boldly Beautiful life.
So when you come across a boundary that doesn’t seem to be there to protect you morally, spiritually or even physically, ask yourself why you don’t want to cross that line. Understanding why that particular boundary is there can help you decide whether to continue to honor it, or to try to stretch beyond it. Regardless of which path you choose, your boundaries are there for you, to define and reinforce the strong, beautiful woman you are.
